Meet Kevin W. Vice, The Managing Partner Who Knows How Insurance Companies Think

|

When someone else’s negligence turns your life upside down, the last thing you want is to feel outmatched by an insurance company. That is where Kevin W. Vice steps in. As a managing partner at Vice Henley & Dilbeck, he brings decades of courtroom experience and a rare perspective from inside the insurance world to the people who need it most.

Meet The Managing Partner Who Knows The Insurance Playbook

In the video above, Kevin introduces himself the same way he does to our clients: plainly, directly, and with a focus on what helps you. He explains that in the early part of his legal career, he handled personal injury cases on the defense side and worked for insurance companies. In his words, he “represented and worked for the insurance companies” and knows “how they think” and “what they do behind the scenes.”

He even trained insurance companies on how to handle claims. That experience gives him a clear view of how insurers evaluate cases, where they try to cut costs, and how they decide what to pay. When he says that knowledge “is a big advantage,” he means it for the injured people he represents today.

Kevin points out a shift he has seen over the years: many insurers now rely on in-house counsel instead of outside law firms. Because he has worked as outside counsel, he understands the gap that can create. As he explains, in-house counsel sometimes “are not as equipped as an outside attorney is to handle a case,” and he believes that gives our firm “a big advantage over other personal injury lawyers” when we stand up for our clients.

How Kevin Sees His Role In Your Recovery

One of the clearest windows into Kevin’s personality comes when he talks about our motto: “You work on getting healed… and then we handle the rest of it.” He does not see a case as just a file or a claim number. He sees a person who needs to focus on medical treatment, family, and getting life back on track.

In the video, he shares that we deal directly with the insurance companies and “even help you with the medical providers.” That means we step into the daily grind that can feel overwhelming—calls, paperwork, and the constant back-and-forth—so clients can focus on what matters most. As he puts it, this approach “really lightens the load for the client,” leaving only what is “absolutely needed to make the case move forward.”

Kevin’s choice of words shows how he leads: calm, practical, and always looking for ways to remove stress from a client’s shoulders. He wants people who come to us to feel supported, not alone in the process.

From Texas Roots To Leading A Texas Injury Firm

Kevin’s story starts in Abilene and Dallas, where he grew up and began setting high standards for himself. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in Dallas with high honors, then continued at the University of North Texas, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and graduating cum laude. His time there included recognition on the Dean’s List and the Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award, early signs of the discipline he would bring to his legal career.

Before law school, Kevin worked in the business world, gaining firsthand experience with operations and customer service. That background shapes the way he runs a law firm today: focused on systems, communication, and real-world results for real people.

He attended Texas Tech University School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude. He earned membership in the Order of the Coif by graduating in the top 10% of his class, served on the Board of Barristers, and received the American Jurisprudence Award for Texas Pre-Trial Procedure. Those accomplishments reflect a deep command of the law and a strong foundation in how cases move through the courts.

In 1992, Kevin gained admission to the State Bar of Texas. Since then, he has built a broad litigation practice. He holds admissions in all Texas state courts, several federal district courts in Texas, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th and 9th Circuits. This reach allows him to guide complex matters from the trial level through appeals when needed.

What He Focuses On For Clients & Businesses

Kevin’s work as a managing partner at Vice Henley & Dilbeck centers on helping people and businesses navigate serious disputes. His practice includes:

  • Personal injury matters for those hurt because of someone else’s negligence
  • Commercial & business litigation when companies face conflicts that need a courtroom or strong negotiation
  • Insurance coverage litigation & evaluation for disputes over what a policy should cover
  • Construction litigation involving property owners, contractors, and related claims
  • General civil trial work across a range of disputes

That mix of work ties directly to our firm’s mission: fighting for full compensation for accident victims, assisting grieving loved ones after wrongful death, supporting construction companies and property owners in disputes, defending the accused in trial and pre-trial matters, and helping business owners protect and grow their ventures.

The Values Behind His Leadership & Teamwork

In his written bio and in person, Kevin comes back again and again to a few core values: integrity, dedication, optimism, and compassion. He wants every client to receive what he calls a “world-class service experience,” and he understands that this only happens when the team feels supported and challenged to do their best work.

He invests in the people around him. He believes in their potential and pushes them toward “the highest standards” with a clear purpose: “providing exceptional service to clients and society as a whole.” That philosophy guides the way we interact with clients, how we prepare cases, and how we communicate during difficult seasons.

His involvement in professional organizations—including the American Bar Association, Dallas Bar Association, Rockwall Bar Association, Texas Association of Defense Counsel, The College of the State Bar of Texas, and The Texas Land and Title Association—helps him stay engaged with developments in the law and maintain strong ties in the legal community.

Why Clients Often Feel Like Family

One of the most memorable lines from Kevin’s video comes at the end: “We try to treat our clients more than just a client and try to treat them like family, and we hope they are family to us.” That is not a slogan for him. It is a standard.

When he talks about treating clients like family, he means returning calls, explaining options in plain language, and handling the hard parts of a case so clients do not have to. He also means honest conversations about risk, realistic timelines, and what it will take to move forward.

As a managing partner, Kevin works to build a firm where every person who walks through our doors—or calls (469) 331-3719—receives that same level of care. We want clients to feel that they have a seasoned trial lawyer and a dedicated team in their corner, but also that they have people who know their names, their stories, and their goals.
